Tracking Wally....

I'm not used to this following from home stuff. Either I'm running the marathon as well or there to cheer someone.

I signed up for texted messages, but that doesn't seem to be working, so I'm using the Marine Corps Marathon to track Walter's progress. If you're swinging by for the first time, my step dad is running the Marine Corps Marathon today! Here is the back story on some set backs he has had, which make his run even more amazing!

All of this marathon tracking works up an appetite, so the hubby and I whipped up some breakfast.

BREAKFAST
-scramble of eggs, spinach & garlic chicken sausage, provolone
-sauteed potatoes, onions & herbs

Also enjoying some coffee with milk & agave nectar.

Wally is almost to the half way point. I'm happy to see that he is taking his time. Around a 12:30 pace. It will take him about 5 and half hours, which to be out there that long is very taxing. I know from experience from running with my mom when she had a bad marathon day.... we originally had hoped to get her qualified for Boston at that race, but it just wasn't her day.

I'm also following a friend of ours who is running his first marathon. He was rocking it up till about the half and then slowed down a bit, still he is going to finish WELL under 4 hours. Maybe under 3:40.

All of this marathon excitement has me looking forward to NYC next weekend! :-)

Since I'll be out of town next weekend we caught up with some friends last night. Our wonderful friends Glenn & Aviva. They are great people and great cooks!

We were in charge of salad, so I whipped up this lovely salad......

The salad included....
-herbed spring mix of greens
-grape tomatoes
-roasted brussel sprouts & eggplant
-gorganzola cheese
-I brought some TJ's balsamic vinaigrette to go with it

I must say it was quite tasty.

Here was a fabulous dinner.

DINNER
-pan roasted halibut
-green beans
-a fabulous fennel with cream sauce & bacon.... so good.
-some un-photographed risotto that went incredibly well with the fennel sauce
SO SO SO good. What a great dinner.
We also had some yummy wine. Happy tummy.

Alright now back to tracking Wally. :-)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!!!

Self diagnosis.... correct!

This morning was quite the debate.....

5:25 alarm goes off.... I hit snooze

5:35 alarm goes off.... I hit snooze

5:45 alarm goes off... I hit snooze, then debate.... do I go to kettlebell at 6am or do I attempt to go after work.  fortunately I like about a mile away from the gym.

I got up.  I went.  Once I was there I was glad I went... I might have woken up by the end of class?  ;-)

Today's workout was good, lots of variety.  Did the following twice.
Work for 1 minute. Rest for 30 seconds.
One Arm Swings
Push Press
Goblet Squat
Chest Press
One Legged Deadlift
One Arm Rows
High Pulls
Tactical Lunges
Swing + Flip + Catch
Crunch Variations

Twas good.  I didn't get bored... not that I ever really get bored at kettlebell, thus why I go!

I headed home afterwards, showered, prepped breakfast and walked the pooch.

Breakfast was camera shy this morning.  Oats.  Same oats I've been eating this week.  Sorry I'm not exciting.  ;(

I left work for a bit today to visit the podiatrist.  Finally!

Well... I'm good at self diagnosis.  I do have plantars fasciitis.  Definitely in my right food and my left may just be a bit sympathetic, how sweet of it.  LOL

Good news, the doctor never used the "r" word.... rest.  Instead she gave me the following.....

New inserts for my shoes....

This lovely brace to wear to bed..... hopefully I don't kick the hubby....

It is suppose to keep my foot flexed.

I go back in two weeks to see if this helps.  If not I'll get a shot of cortisone in my foot, ouch.

My toenails on my big toes are coming in ok, I just need to keep an eye on them.  So overall a good visit to the foot doctor.  :)

I headed back to work for a bit, but soon enough it was lunch time.   I had plans to meet my mom, so I kept them and met up with her at one of my favorite places.... Portsmouth Tea Company.  They had some great specials today, I got the cuban sandwich on ciabatta bread with their yummy crunchy salad.  I also finally tried their Harvest Moon tea.  YUM!  It was more like dessert... citrus with a hint of candy corn!

It was a super filling lunch.  But yummy!  It was great to catch up with my mom.  She is a running fool too.  Some of her friends met up the other night to celebrate one lady's birthday, they went for a run then did dinner!  They rock!!

After work I dragged the hubby out for a post work cocktail.  I just had some red wine.  Yay!

Then it was home to make dinner.

DINNER
-TJ's pesto chicken sausage
-Newman's tomato sauce
-whole wheat pasta
-little freshly grated parmesan
-more wine

Despite indulging in some wine tonight, I think I'll do my long run tomorrow.  I just want to get it out of the way and enjoy the rest of my weekend (oh and I don't have Monday off so its just a regular weekend for me... boo hoo).

So I'll attempt another 20 miles tomorrow.  No half marathon to keep me going this weekend though.  Just me, my iphone and the pavement.  I think I'll download a few new songs tonight.

What are some of your favorite workout songs right now??

Hope your weekend is off to a fabulous start!  Oh and I have started to copy my posts over to www. runnerbelle.com  so if you have links to this site or gmail reader linked, you can switch it to the new site.  Hopefully by next week I'll be totally over there!!!

Good night!

Overly ambitious.....

Me??   Never.  ;)

Man yesterday whooped my behind.  Was up way past midnight too, so no blogging.

Recap of mid-morning on.

Prerequisite coffee....

LUNCH
-after leaving work to sell my car, sniff sniff, I had little time to make lunch..... so I hit up the cafeteria at work
-whole wheat wrap, chicken salad, loaded with veggies and sweet pickles.  side of carrot sticks.
-SoBe Lifewater.... I was feeling a tad dehydrated but needed something more than just water, was actually relatively light & refreshing in taste

SNACK
-randomly some of the office assistants were going around with popsicles, so I grabbed one, yum!

After work I hit the grocery store for those forgotten items, as well as the local wine store for some required vino for the night.

Then it was home to prep food.  I was definitely overly ambitious and kind of scatterbrained in my planning.  I should have kept it to much simpler items than I originally planned, but in the end that is what I ran with... the simple stuff.  After prepping, I cleaned up the kitchen, changed and walked downtown for the concert.

The park was PACKED, which is great!  I met up with some friends there and plopped down on my blanket to enjoy the music, the weather and catching up with friends.

I also had a summer treat.... haven't had nearly enough this summer.  Ice Cream!  (well technically frozen yogurt)

Annabelle's Purple Cow- black raspberry ice cream w/ regular & white chocolate chunks. yum
A friend also had some fresh blueberries & blackberries so I added those too!

I left the concert just before the end to start setting things up and finishing prepping a few items.  I was running around so much I forgot to snap a picture.  Luckily Elizabeth of Our Life is Delicious was a good food blogger and snapped a picture of the spread!  Thank you E!

Spread of Munchies Included (this is what I can remember right now)
-quinoa salad I made last night
-chocolate chip cookies (also made last night)
-skewers of : tomato, mozzarella & basil
roasted red peppers, mozzarella & basil
                        cantaloupe & prosciutto
                        prosciutto & mozzarella
-grilled chicken sausage- italian & buffalo chicken
-guacamole - avocado, tomato & lime juice
-tortilla chips
-whole wheat pita
- classic hummus  (was going to make my own, but ran out of time)
-baba ghannouj

I snacked on stuff all night, I really should have made a plate but just didn't get around to it.  I mainly stuck to the mozzarella, tomato & basil, pita & hummus and a couple of cookies.

My neighbor brought some fixings for Dark & Stormies.... Ginger Beer & Gosling's Black Rum.  I had a couple small Dark & Stormies and then a glass of Vouvray.

We finally hit the hay around 2am!!  Ack!

I slept soundly till 8am.  So nice.  Then got ready to meet the in-laws for breakfast.

I opted for pancakes covered in berries and an iced coffee.  Yum!  I ate maybe 3/4 of this.  I was HUNGRY.

My mother-in-law is a poached egg eater, but fussy about it.  So the breakfast place made two batches, waitress brought out both.  She offered us the other ones my mother-in-law didn't have so I had one poached egg.  Figured the protein would be good.  :)

So with all the craziness yesterday I didn't get my run in.  :(   But today is my rest day and I'm sticking to it!

I sort of invited myself over to a friend's house to use the pool and now they are having a pool party!  See what happens when I come over someone's house, a party breaks out.  ;)

So I think I'll wrap up some of my left overs & some of the food I didn't get around to prepping last night.  I have some great toasted french bread for a mixed olive bruschetta I got at Trade Joe's that I must bring!

Enjoy the day and stay cool!
